WATER BAPTISM
What is water baptism?
Water Baptism is a public testimony.
Water Baptism is a public testimony of what has taken place in the life of a Christian. It is a representation of Jesus' death on the cross, burial in the tomb and resurrection of new life. Like what Jesus has done for us; water baptism represents us dying to our old self (going fully immersed under the water), leaving behind the past lifestyle and entering the new life (being raised out of the water) we now have knowing Jesus as our Lord.
Water Baptism is an act of obedience.
Jesus commands in Matthew 28:18-20 "...Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you..."
As a follower of Christ we are to be water baptised as an act of obedience to his command.
Who should get water baptised?
Anyone who has accepted Jesus into their life and wanting to be a follower of Christ.
When should we get water baptised?
Once you have made that decision and accepted Jesus into your life, then the next step is water baptism as soon as possible.
